Descendancy Narrative of Faibush Paikin (2322)

This is a merge between two Paikin-branches. The paper trail was inconclusive, but DNA-testing has proven that these two branches were indeed descendants of the same progenitor, Faibush Paikin.

The DNA-testing was done by www.familytreedna.com as part of The The Family Tree Paikin Surname Project.

Another branch has now also been identified with the help of DNA-testing - namely the descendants of Aaron Paikin (Chapter 7), as Aaron is identical with Pini Aron Paikin (I.A.2 in this descendancy report).

I will soon prepare an updated report - a merge of three previously separate branches.

It is also very likely that the descendants of Jacob Ze'ev Wulf Paikin (Chapter 10) belongs to this branch, but there is no documents that can prove it - so I am hoping that one of Jacob Ze'ev Wulf Paikin's direct male descendants will take a DNA-test (Y-DNA) so that we can find out whether this hypothesis is true. Gilbert Herbert, who has researched the Jacob Ze'ev Wulf Paikin branch for more than 25 years, also believes - for many reasons - that these branches are closely related.

(1) Hirscha Leib Movshev⁵ Paikin (1395) was also known as Hirsch Leib  Paikin. Hirsch, Morduch and Berka are nephews of Aba Paikin, cousins of Wulf and Jacob. But they are not mentioned in Dagda 1897 Census - maybe because the Census is incomplete. He married Dobka Micheleva (1396), daughter of Michel Horin (1471). He was born in 1861/1863 at Osveya, Latvia? (or Dagda or Rezekne?). He appeared on the census of 1897 at Dagda, Latvia. He was Butcher in 1897. He lived in 1897 at Moskovskaya Street, Dagda, Latvia. (f) Haja Riva⁶ Paikin (2430) was also known as Chaia Riva Paikin (2430). She was born in 1906. There is no direct proof that she belonged to this family. However, in 1921 when she got a passport, she was stated to be the daughter of Hirsh and she got the passport together with Doba. Therefore it is likely that she must be their daughter. She emigrated on 19 Oct 1923 to USA. She died after 19 Oct 1923.

 

(2) Morduch Movshev⁵ Paikin (1402) was also known as Marcus Paikin (1402). He was born in 1871 at Osveya – or in 1872 at Dagda, Latvia (??). He lived in 1897 at Moskovskaya Street, Dagda, Latvia. He was Tailor in 1897. He died after 1897.

(a) Max Chaim⁶ Hamerow (243) Theodore Hamerow: 'Max was the only one who remained in Russia after WWI. He was married to a Russian woman, they had at least one child, a son. He died between 1930 and 1939 at Russia under one of Stalin’s purges.
